Just because a reporter suspects a person may have incriminating information kept in their safe, does not mean it would be "in the public interest" for that reporter to burgle that person's home to retrieve it.

Re: Curious timing

Time is a very important thing for us but there are some people yet who don't understand the value of time. But without considering the time no one can progress in their life. Also, all the students should maintain their time properly. And for that, they can use weekly timesheet and this software is totally free. This product has one more name and it is itimeplus. And Orapex is providing this software.

Re: #TwitterCensored - back on Al Jazeera

The moment I saw you, you gave off the impression of having been a student conservative activist at some point. Just when the reverse was required it favoured the speculator over the sensible long-term investor. Why should people get to sit in the upper house of the UK parliament just because they have impressed the rather indirectly elected prime minister or party leader? Only if he is ready to commit to a democraticaly elected upper house can he appear to be authentically furthering democracy.

Cameron also failed to detail what open primaries will entail. Will sitting MPs in safe seats be subjected to primaries or will they be automatically reselected? Will he be open to challenges himself for reselection in an open primary? Won't open primaries make it even more expensive (and thus more difficult for ordinary people) for people to get their names on the ballot paper at the general election.

Re: The strange case of Hazel Blears and the HMRC

Danvers - fab to see you & Barry at Thinking Digital this week; I got to this page via this article from The Guardian.

Success & greater fame beckons! ;-)

Re: The strange case of Hazel Blears and the HMRC

Yup, I wondered about the rate. She's paid more than the current rate, so presumably it was at the old rate (40%) with deductions/reliefs added in - she possibly also granted herself her annual CGT allowance (which might account for it entirely). If you are taking dividend, interest or other income, you don't pay it - which is even more inequitable in my view. Arguably "unearned" income should be taxed more heavily, and/or there should be more tax breaks for employing people, particularly in these difficult times.
